Kelley Drye partner Lauri Mazzuchetti was quoted in Law360s article, Disney And YouTube Defeat Kids’ Data Privacy Suit, For Now.” The article covers the decision to dismiss, with leave to amend, a proposed class action alleging that Disney, YouTube, and Google violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by allowing advertisers to collect minors’ personal information through improperly labeled YouTube content. 

During the hearing, Lauri addressed questions concerning the standards used to determine whether online content is directed to children under 13, explaining that features often associated with children’s programming, such as talking animals, do not by themselves establish that content is child-directed under COPPA.
