The article covers the California Privacy Protection Agency’s (CPPA) recent decision against Tractor Supply Company, which was fined $1.35 million for violating Californians’ privacy rights. “Earlier fines under the CCPA were significantly smaller, because the CPPA was focused on educating companies, but now the agency seems to believe that companies have had sufficient time to secure counsel, change practices, and update their policies and procedures, so the focus is moving from education to deterrence.”
