Laura Riposo VanDruff Quoted in Bloomberg Law on California Kids Code Compliance Challenges
Partner Laura Riposo VanDruff was quoted in Bloomberg Law on the growing complexity of complying with the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act following a recent federal appeals court decision allowing key provisions to move forward.
As courts begin to permit portions of state kids’ online safety laws to take effect, companies face an increasingly fragmented compliance landscape.
“We are starting to see some room for courts to allow provisions of various laws to take effect and I think that’s likely to continue over the next year,” said Laura. “Companies will need to carefully track which provisions in which states go into effect.”
She emphasized the importance of staying proactive as requirements evolve.
“My advice for companies is to stay current—whether it’s yourself or through your outside counsel. That means tracking the practices that a company is engaged in… and reassess whether existing practices align with emerging obligations.”
