Richard Chargar is the managing partner in the firm's Stamford office and chair of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice group.
Mr. Chargar advises clients on all aspects of executive compensation, including deferred compensation, supplemental executive retirement plans, equity-based compensation (including accounting treatment and securities laws issues), split-dollar life insurance, and employment and severance agreements. He counsels on the design implementation and administration of qualified retirement plans and welfare plans.
Mr. Chargar also has experience advising clients on the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including the employee benefits provisions of purchase agreements, change of control and golden parachute issues, due diligence, treatment of sellers' plans, and integration of acquired employees and plans into acquirers' plans.
Mr. Chargar advises clients on the implementation and administration of tax-qualified employee benefits plans, including 401(k) plans, defined benefit plans and multi-employer and collectively bargained pension plans. In addition, Mr. Chargar advises on fiduciary and plan asset issues, including prohibited transaction and unrelated business taxable income issues.
