Lawyer Offers An Initiation Into Internal Investigation Interviews

This article is the first of a two part series on conducting internal investigation interviews. Although all interviews are different, there are some key principles that should always kept in mind. The article discusses the three key topics an interviewer should cover in his or her “opening statement” – 1) Upjohn warnings; 2) the explanation of the investigation; and 3) company policies related to confidentiality, cooperation, and anti-retaliation. The article also provides some pointers on concluding the interview.
