Hans R. Maxime is a trade analyst with over 18 years of experience in audit, risk management, and compliance across the U.S. government and the financial services industry. He focuses on customs and trade risk assessments, compliance audits, trade remedies enforcement, forced labor supply chain tracing, and the design and evaluation of internal controls. 

Prior to entering the private sector, Hans spent over 15 years with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trade Regulatory Audit division, assessing importer compliance with U.S. trade laws and regulations. As Assistant Field Director, he led and managed complex audits and advisory work in areas including focused assessments, single issue audits, broker audits, complex customs valuation reviews, rules of origin analysis, antidumping and countervailing duties, USMCA and other free trade agreements review, prior disclosure reviews, Enforce and Protect Act verifications, foreign trade zone audits, forced labor supply chain tracing, and trade-based money laundering investigations. Hans leveraged import data to perform large scale industry risk assessments for his regional office to develop their strategic annual audit plans.

Hans regularly collaborated with Homeland Security Investigations, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and other government agencies on investigations involving trade fraud and illicit financial networks.

Hans has extensive experience in import data analytics, designing and evaluating internal controls, supply chains tracing and mapping, financial systems and financial statement analyses, and assessing organizational compliance and operational risks related to trade. He also served as Acting Field Director within Trade Regulatory Audit, overseeing the southeastern regional audit operations and managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices. Prior to joining GES, he was a Vice President of Internal Audit at Truist Bank overseeing audit remediation and business operations. 

Hans is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds an MBA, with a background that bridges international trade law, accounting, and risk management.
