Washington, D.C. managing partner Kathleen Cannon was featured in the Law360 article “5 Tips For Aspiring International Trade Attorneys.” In this article, seasoned lawyers offer guidance on how to successfully navigate the complex terrain of trade law. Ms. Cannon commented on the importance of firm culture when searching for prospective employers. “Finding out what you can about the firm is always good. Most firms say we have a good culture, but is there any evidence behind that?” she said, adding that candidates would do well to consult industry publications and lists for that sort of information. She went on to note the importance of networking, even for young associates. “Most junior people don’t think about that, or figure that they don’t have to worry about [generating business] until they are a partner,” Ms. Cannon said. “But it’s a really good thing to think about really early on in your career, and it’s something we stress at Kelley Drye a lot. You can market and position yourself to develop clients at any level.”
