Kenny Corley and Bill Jackson Quoted on North Carolina PFAS Settlement
Partners Kenny Corley and Bill Jackson were quoted in Law360 on the $590 million settlement between DuPont and its spinoffs and the state of North Carolina to resolve claims that DuPont contaminated North Carolina with PFAS, or “forever chemicals.” DuPont de Nemours Inc., Chemours and Corteva Inc. agreed to a $455 million settlement fund to be paid to North Carolina counties, towns, and utilities, as well as a $135 million reserve fund to ensure the companies’ compliance.
Kenny served as lead trial counsel for the state of North Carolina. He told Law360, “This settlement represents an important step forward in addressing the impacts of PFAS contamination and securing meaningful relief for affected communities. This settlement will help support efforts to address PFAS contamination and ensure that residents across southeastern North Carolina have access to clean, safe water.”
