Racial Equality
Our work
The reckoning for racial inequalities experienced by Black and brown people has ignited a societal movement following the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others. As a firm, we are committed to doing our part to end racism and to help create a more just and equal society. Prompted by the Advocacy and Legal Support Working Group of the Firm’s Task Force on Racial Equality, we are addressing these issues and promoting racial equality through our internal work as individuals, as well as our words and actions as a law firm.
Dedicating Pro Bono Resources
We are dedicating substantial pro bono resources to address systemic racism in a long-term and collaborative way, intent on making lasting change toward racial equality in the justice system. For example, attorneys from the firm have contributed efforts to the New York Legal Aid Society’s Cop Accountability Project, the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana Justice Lab: Putting Racist Practices in Policing on Trial. To build a stronger and more inclusive society, we are standing with our clients to increase awareness, elevate anti-racism efforts, and start to extinguish old systems of racial injustice. We know that there is much more work to be done. Our support for individuals, and initiatives addressing biases and racial inequalities in policing, voting, and experience of the criminal justice system will continue to ensure that equal treatment under the law becomes a reality.
