Sanam Bhalla’s practice focuses on counseling, internal investigations and enforcement matters, and implementation of compliance programs related to export controls and economic sanctions. She also supports the firm’s work on forced labor matters.
In previous roles, Sanam has served as in-house counsel for a security consulting and business advisory firm, where she worked on import, export, and other compliance issues including under the ITAR, EAR, FCPA, and FARA. Earlier in her career she worked for a global healthcare company where her responsibilities included analyzing the effects of international trade agreements and advocating interests in trade negotiations and regulatory agencies. She also conducted research and reviewed trade legislation on import and export matters for a trade organization that represents U.S. companies engaged in global trade.
Sanam holds a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, with an emphasis in international trade, and a B.A. in international studies, political science, and Spanish from Washington & Jefferson College. She is proficient in Hindi and Spanish.
Sanam Bhalla is admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C. and New York State and is authorized to handle matters exclusively within federal jurisdiction, including but not limited to international trade and corporate compliance law. She is not licensed to practice state law in Illinois and does not provide legal services related to Illinois state law.
