Rich Gage focuses his practice on bankruptcy litigation, primarily representing creditors’ committees, individual creditors, and trustees. He has also previously handled bankruptcy litigation on the debtor side. Rich brings extensive experience in general commercial litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, covering a wide variety of matter including contracts, business torts, antitrust, employment, trade secrets, intellectual property, defamation, and securities.

Before coming to Kelley Drye, Rich worked in the complex commercial litigation department at an Am Law 50 international law firm, where he also practiced bankruptcy litigation. Previously, Rich clerked for the Honorable John F. Keenan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Secured victories at trial and summary judgment for a bankruptcy involving one of the largest US bedding makers and distributors in North America, in long-running dispute with lenders involving a first-of-its kind transaction and nearly a billion dollars of potential exposure.

Won appeal in district court and unanimous decision in the Second Circuit affirming collateral valuation in a retail store bankruptcy with over $700 million disputed.

Recovered $230 million for a financial institution in insurance litigation arising out of the bankruptcy for the Philadelphia Energy Solutions oil refinery.

Evaluated claims by federal government, states, municipalities, and individuals as part of plan confirmation for a pharmaceutical company.
