Judith Flournoy serves as Kelley Drye’s chief information officer (CIO). A proven, experienced and veteran IT executive, Judi is uniquely qualified and experienced in strategic planning, development and organizational leadership. With more than two decades of law firm IT and operations experience working for AmLaw 250 firms, Judi offers particular expertise in designing IT strategies that align with business priorities and support expense reduction. Judi was recipient of the 2020 International Legal Technology Association’s (ILTA) Lifetime Achievement Award. She earned the “Outstanding CIO of the Year” award in the first annual Changing Lawyer Awards and was named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural list of “50 Business of Law Trailblazers & Pioneers.” Judi also received the “IT Director of the Year” award from Law Technology News and was recognized as one of the “Global Top 100 CIOs” by City Tech magazine.
Judi offers not only extensive skill in IT, but also comprehensive knowledge of law firm operations, including risk management, budgeting and capital improvement initiatives. Judi is experienced in the full array of software applications and services specific to law firm operations, including time and billing, conflicts, records, expense reporting, imaging, document management, docket and discovery services.
As CIO of Kelley Drye, Judi is responsible for identifying, planning, coordinating and implementing technology and business processes across the firm, while assisting administrative departments in accomplishing their operational goals. With a staff of nearly 50 IT professionals, Judi manages the capital and operating budget and information services operations, security, development, practice management, discovery services, records and user support, including the supervision and professional development of four directors and five managers. She is also involved in the technological aspects of business continuity planning, client RFPs and security audits, and vendor and product evaluation, as well as contract review and negotiation.
Judi is appreciated and valued for being consistent, as well as for her ability to articulate a vision in which professionals at all levels can understand and participate. A patient listener and astute observer, Judi continuously educates herself on what the firm needs and what the legal and other industries are doing in terms of technology, constantly reviewing and analyzing what will actually make sense for Kelley Drye’s long- and short-term IT goals. By applying potential future technological options to the firm’s present needs, while at the same time respecting the past history and culture of the firm, Judi’s objective is to ensure that Kelley Drye remains a vibrant, productive, flexible organization both today and into the future.
