Devika Persaud is a member of the firm’s Trademark and Copyright and Litigation practice groups. Devika’s practice focuses on developing and protecting clients’ intellectual property rights, and enforcing and defending those rights in federal court and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She also regularly assists clients through trademark clearance and prelitigation enforcement and defense efforts.
Prior to focusing on intellectual property, Devika worked on complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters in the areas of securities and structured finance, consumer financial services, product liability, bankruptcy and contractual disputes.
Member of the trial team representing a multinational consumer electronics corporation in defense of a federal trademark infringement case.
Managed defense of NYSE-listed financial services company with over $14 billion in assets in trademark infringement case from responsive pleading through discovery, including taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses, summary judgment, and pre-trial disclosures.
Represented a corporation in a case of first impression regarding applicability of tribal sovereign immunity to proceedings before U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Pro Bono
Successfully obtained political asylum for Rwandan individual and his family and provided immigration advice to Afghan women judges seeking sanctuary.
