Partner and Firm Chair James S. Carr was quoted in The Wall Street Journal article, “RadioShack Store Closings to Jolt Some Developers: Significant Chunk of Outlets Likely to Shut Down” regarding the repercussions that RadioShack’s imminent bankruptcy will have on real estate investors who operate the retail stores. The electronics chain is planning on closing a substantial number of its 4,000 locations, the vast majority of which it leases. Shutting down stores “is going to have a greater impact on owners of strip centers and what you’d call ‘Main Street locations’ than regional shopping centers, which have more stores,” said Mr. Carr who is advising an informal committee of landlords on RadioShack’s restructuring.
