The Patriot-News and pennlive.com Quote Partner Julian Solotorovsky on University Investigations
In the article, “Without Force, Former FBI Director Freeh Could Have Difficulty Unveiling Information at Penn State,” The Patriot-News and pennlive.com reviewed Louis Freeh’s internal investigation of the Jerry Sandusky case. Penn State hired the former FBI director to investigate the school officials’ conduct in the scandal. The article outlined goals that Freeh’s committee is trying to accomplish and possible outcome. The piece quoted partner Julian Solotorovsky.
“For an investigation like this to succeed, an institution has to make it clear it wants the investigation to succeed, no matter the results.
‘It’s a lot easier doing your job if the message has been sent -- and continues during the investigation -- that you darn well better cooperate,’ Julian Solotorovsky said.
Solotorovsky led an investigation into betting by Northwestern University student-athletes, which led to criminal charges.
‘Investigations have a life of their own,’ he said. ‘They can get momentum, or they can fizzle.’ ”
