Partner Robert L. Haig has been included by The National Law Journal in its inaugural list of 50 “Litigation Trailblazers & Pioneers.” ALM’s announcement of the list states: “Fifty of the top legal professionals in the U.S. have been recognized in The National Law Journal’s inaugural “Litigation Trailblazers & Pioneers” special supplement. Released on December 22nd, the list honors individuals who have changed the practice of litigation through the use of innovative legal strategies.” The other honorees include many of the most prominent and respected litigators in the United States.
In the special supplement, The National Law Journal notes that “In 1995, New York’s chief judge appointed Bob Haig co-chair of a task force to create the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court, one of the first business courts in the United States.” The article also states that “Haig has participated in the growth of the Commercial Division from six judges in two counties to 29 judges in 10 counties.” The National Law Journal further notes that “In 2013, New York’s current chief judge appointed Haig chair of a new council to advise him on an ongoing basis about matters involving the Commercial Division and in the business world that may affect the court system.” The article states that Bob “has also worked on creating business courts with lawyers, judges and legislators outside New York (more than 20 states now have business courts).” Finally, the article states: “Haig is also the editor in chief of the two definitive treatises on business litigation in federal and New York state courts. Between them, these two treatises comprise more than 20,000 pages and contain the work of more than 350 principal authors.”
