The Connecticut Law Tribune Notes Kelley Drye’s India Practice
The Connecticut Law Tribune article, “Companies that Outsource Face New Legal Risk,” reviewed a case where a Connecticut medical billing company, Glenwood, accused three people in India of stealing proprietary trade information to start competing companies. Glenwood claimed their information was used to start two new competing medical billing companies in California and India. The Second Circuit affirmed the lower court’s ruling. Although the defendants had enough contacts in Connecticut to justify jurisdiction, the court ruled it would be unfair to force the defendants to come from India to face trial.
The article provided general background information on the business in India. It noted, “Other firms, including Kelley Drye & Warren, have carved out an India practice by representing Indian clients in transactions in the U.S. and investors in India.”
