The Chicago Tribune Quotes Partner Julian Solotorovsky on Blagojevich Tapes
In an article, “The Answer Man Revisits the Blagojevich Case,” partner Julian Solotorovsky commented on whether the former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, can discuss the FBI surveillance tapes in his corruption case. Mr. Blagojevich told the media that the judge is preventing him from disclosing material from those tapes, having issued a protective order.Mr. Solotorovsky, a former assistant U.S. attorney said:“ ‘If Blagojevich says he has an independent recollection of conversations that was refreshed by his hearing the tapes, I should think that the prosecution would be hard pressed to challenge him for saying what he remembers to whomever he wants. So, if he wants to get out what was said on the tapes, it looks to me like he can do so.’ ”In August, a federal jury found Blagojevich guilty of one of 24 charges in a corruption trial. Prosecutors plan to re-try him in a case that may begin in 2011.
