The Center for Family Representation Honors Kelley Drye and Partner Michael C. Lynch with 2014 Legal Champion Award
The Center for Family Representation honored Kelley Drye with the 2014 Legal Champion Award for pro bono service, honoring Kelley Drye’s commitment to the children and families of New York City. The award was presented to Michael C. Lynch, Chair of the firm’s litigation department, by Center for Family Representation Board Member Seth Krauss at their Gala on June 2, 2014.
Kelley Drye’s work with CFR was headed by Mr. Lynch, who analyzed both the legal and political issues raised by the restraint of CFR’s non-violent incarcerated litigants during crucial proceedings. Kelley Drye is honored to contribute in such meaningful ways to this wonderful organization and we look forward to working with CFR’s professional staff in the future.
“Kelley Drye has long had a strong commitment to pro bono work and, like all of you here tonight, we believe it is an integral part of our profession,” said Mr. Lynch, “and CFR’s staff is terrific – as litigators, they really get it.”
CFR is a nonprofit legal services organization dedicated to keeping families together and keeping children out of the foster care system. Every CFR client works with a team of professionals comprised of a lawyer, a social worker, and a parent advocate—a trained professional who has experienced the child welfare system firsthand and has successfully reunited with her family. CFR achieves excellent results in keeping children out of foster care and keeping their time in care to a minimum.
