The Associated Press Quotes Partner Julian Solotorovsky on Blagojevich Trial
The Associated Press reported on the second trial of Rod Blagojevich. Defense attorneys cross-examined the government’s witness, John Harris, the former Illinois governor’s chief of staff. The AP article quoted the chair of Kelley Drye’s white-collar crime and investigations practice group, Julian Solotorovsky.
“ ‘You and your boss were just running your mouths, right? You spent a lot of time with him, and you know he has a tendency to do that, right?’ said Julian Solotorovsky, a former federal prosecutor in Chicago. ‘If I were them, that’d be what I’d ask Harris.’
Mr. Solotorovsky also commented on defense’s efforts to find inconsistencies in Harris’ testimony, comparing the first and second trials. “ ‘That’s a pitfall of having the same witness on twice,’ said Solotorovsky. ‘They might not tell the same story twice.’ ”
Mr. Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell President Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat, which became open when Mr. Obama became a presidential candidate.
