Savvy Consumer Mentions Kelley Drye’s Involvement in NCL’s Consumer Protection Symposium

Kelley Drye & Warren LLP partnered with the National Consumers League to organize its inaugural Consumer Protection Symposium on November 14, 2012. The symposium examined the future of three important consumer issues in the lame duck session and the coming 113th Congress: food safety, sequestration and privacy. The event was a great success, as reported by Savvy Consumer in the article, ​“NCL Symposium Examines Consumer Issues and the Next Congress.” The program featured more than a dozen expert speakers from Executive Branch, Congress and advocacy organizations, including Michael Taylor, Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine, FDA.; Anne Northup, former Commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission; Julie Brill, Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission; and Sarah Roller, chair of the Food and Drug practice at Kelley Drye. The article also mentioned that Kelley Drye has a shared history with NCL, as Florence Kelley, the mother of the firm’s name partner Nicholas Kelley, served as the first General Secretary of the NCL for 33 years and was widely recognized as one of the leading progressives in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
