Partner Paul C. Rosenthal Quoted on Circumvention of Steel Antidumping Duties
In an International Trade Law360 article titled “Mexican Cos. Dodging US Steel Duties, Suit Claims” and an American Metal Market article titled “2 Mexican Mills Accused of Trying to Skirt US Duties,” partner Paul C. Rosenthal discussed a recent complaint filed by his clients, three domestic steel producers, with the Import Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. The petition alleges that two Mexican companies, Deacero SA de CV and Ternium Mexico SA de CV, are trying to escape antidumping duties of about 18 percent.
“The scope of the antidumping duty orders on wire rod has always been understood to include all hot-rolled wire rod in coils,” said Mr. Rosenthal. He noted “these products are being sold at dumped prices in large volumes to the domestic industry’s customers, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure that they are properly covered by the antidumping duty order.”
