Partner James S. Carr Selected by Minority Corporate Counsel Association as Leading Law Firm Rainmaker
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) featured Kelley Drye & Warren LLP partner James S. Carr, in a Diversity & The Bar article, “Leading Law Firm Rainmakers -- 2009.” The article profiled 14 attorneys “selected for their acumen in developing books of business, as well as their expertise as lawyers,” and interviewed the lawyers on their professional experiences and career paths. These attorneys were chosen from a pool of nominees from across the country, also with a criterion requiring that all of the attorneys maintained a regular book of business reaching or surpassing $2 million each year.
Mr. Carr, the chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice group, discussed his approach to generating business. His rainmaking style is characterized by involving common sense, understanding his client’s business needs and being responsive. He also described plans to continue to grow the firm’s bankruptcy group in representing creditors’ rights.
Diversity & the Bar, MCCA’s signature publication, examines issues relating to the recruitment, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys to establish inclusiveness in the practice of law. Founded in 1997, MCCA advocates the hiring, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys in corporate law departments and the law firms that serve them.
