National Fisherman Reports on Lawsuit Filed by Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen
National Fisherman quoted partner David E. Frulla regarding his representation of Martha’s Vineyard fishermen in the article, “Island Fishermen Suing to Stop Mass Wind Farm.” Kelley Drye is representing the Martha’s Vineyard Duke’s County Fishermen’s Association and fisherman Jonathan Mayhew in their lawsuit to stop the Cape Wind Energy Project.
Mr. Frulla stated the Coast Guard concluded that the wind mills could interfere with the vessels’ radar, and the required safety steps would make the livelihood of the small commercial fishermen prohibitively expensive. Mr. Frulla emphasized that the fishermen, already struggling under regulatory pressures, are seeking to reach other solutions to safeguard the environment and to preserve the only livelihood they know.
