Partner Andrew P. Pillsbury provided pro bono legal services to the Children’s Oncology Services Inc. of Chicago (COSI). Mr. Pillsbury advised COSI on acquiring a new facility.
Also, in September 2009, associate Matthew C. Luzadder participated in COSI’s annual fundraising event, which brought in $260,000 to help send children with cancer to summer camp at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Mr. Luzadder was photographed along with other COSI fundraisers and this photo was published in the Indiana University Alumni Magazine article, “Young Alumni Staff Cancer-Support Organization.” In addition to participating in COSI’s annual fundraising event, Mr. Luzadder also provided pro bono legal services to COSI, including advising the organization on the acquisition of a new facility.
COSI, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer. COSI offers camp experiences and educational programs throughout the year that allow children with cancer to enjoy “normal” childhood experiences such as going to school, participating in activities and spending time with peers. COSI also has advocacy programs in Washington D.C. and Springfield, Illinois, and a scholarship program for cancer patients and survivors.
