Kelley Drye Sponsors Muslim Bar Association’s Annual Gala

​On April 27, 2017, the Muslim Bar Association of New York (MuBANY) held its 2017 Gala & Awards Reception at the New York Hilton. The evening’s keynote speaker was Faiza Patel, co-director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center, focusing on national security and civil liberties issues affecting Muslims in the United States.  Other honorees included Carmelyn Malalis, Chair of the New York City Commission on Human Rights, who was awarded Advocate of the Year, with the Trailblazer award going to CUNY’s CLEAR (Creating Law Enforcement Accountability & Responsibility) Project.  Attending the event on Kelley Drye’s behalf were special counsel Jennifer Bedoya (member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee), associates Amaad Bhatti and Phillip Crain, and former Kelley Drye associate Tania Khan, now Assistant General Counsel at New York Life Insurance.
