Bloomberg BNA Quotes Partner Wayne J. D’Angelo on Social Cost of Carbon
Partner Wayne J. D’Angelo was quoted in the Bloomberg BNA article “Climate Change: Wildfire Damage Should Be Included in Social Cost of Carbon, Environmental Groups Say.” The article discusses whether or not wildfires should be considered as part of the social cost of carbon, which is used to calculate the social and economic cost of regulations that affect carbon dioxide emissions. Mr. D’Angelo commented that “I think it is exceptionally premature for anyone to urge federal agencies to factor the cost of climate-fueled wildfires into the social cost of carbon estimate. The report surmises that the integrated assessment models do not include wildfire costs because those costs are uncertain and insufficiently studied. Far from providing a basis for regulatory decisions, the report acknowledges that this area requires a great deal of further study.”
