Bill MacLeod Testifies Before FTC

Bill MacLeod’s testimony before the FTC is featured in an article in Prevue. The hearing is on the FTC’s proposal to prohibit all impersonations of businesses, government entities, or officers of either. The rule is intended to stop the fraudulent come-ons by con artists trying to swindle consumers. But in its haste to issue the rule, the FTC wrote it so broadly that it would ban every advertisement with a fictional depictions of a politician, doctor, factory, or storefront, whether misleading or not.
