Managing Legal Fees: Best Practices for In-House Counsel in the Ethics, Management and Recovery of Legal Fees
November 7, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (EST)
Kelley Drye & Warren, LLP and Wyatt Partners have designed a three-hour ethics program specifically for in-house counsel that focusses on the management, recovery and ethics of legal fees in today’s market.
The program will include an interactive discussion on a wide-range of pertinent topics, including: an analysis of Rule 1.5 of the Rules of Professional Conduct and what it means for fees to be “reasonable”; trends and drivers of fees and costs in today’s legal market; best practices for in-house and outside counsel to ethically manage costs before, during, and after a matter, including the utilization of Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines; workloads and responsibilities as applied to legal spend and rates; state and federal fee-shifting provisions and causes of actions; and best practices for the recovery of attorneys’ fees in litigation.
There is limited availability for this ethics conference, as we are structuring the presentations and panels to encourage active participation and a frank conversation between and among in-house counsel, the fee experts from Wyatt Partners, and Kelley Drye presenters in a collaborative environment. Presenters will include Steven Tasher, former Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, together with other principals from his current company, Wyatt Partners – a consulting group that focuses exclusively on the subject of legal fees and expenses. Other panelists will include Bill Jackson, Co-Chair of Kelley Drye’s National Environmental Practice Group, Elizabeth B. Woodard, Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Riviana Foods Inc., and Stephanie Hall, Senior Managing Counsel, Environmental, Safety & Regulatory Affairs with Valero.
