Kelley Drye Teams Up With Motorcycle Gang to Beautify DC School
August 24, 2013
On Saturday, August 24, Kelley Drye attorneys, advisors, staff and family turned out at Noyes Education Campus in Northeast D.C. to participate in what has become known as “Beautification Day” for D.C. Public Schools. This annual DCPS event was established in 2005 as a citywide “spruce up” of all D.C. public school buildings in preparation for the first day of school. This is the first year that Kelley Drye has participated and the turnout was fantastic. The Kelley Drye team joined over 4,700 city-wide volunteers preparing 112 schools for the first day of the 2013-2014 school year.
As participants waited outside the school, permission slips in hand, they heard the rumble of motorcycles and soon saw the Kelley Drye partner team, The Lost Ones Motorcycle Gang, rolling into the parking lot. After group introductions, the school’s coordinator broke the teams into two groups and everyone got to work. Outdoors, there was weeding, hoeing, planting and mulching and indoors there was painting, painting and more painting. Participants worked hard from 9am – 1pm and the school looked fantastic – inside and out.
Many thanks go out to Charlotte Zimmerman, Suzanne Gralow, Judy Brown, Christie Thompson, Heather Tighe, Mick Kelleher and Angela Carter-Anderson for all their hard work.
