Kelley Drye Participates at Heart of Gold Award Dinner

On May 17, The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County held the organization’s 16th annual Heart of Gold Award dinner at The Italian Center in Stamford, Connecticut. Approximately 400 people attended the event.
This year’s Heart of Gold Award was presented to Tad Montross, CEO of General Reinsurance, who was recognized for enhancing Gen Re’s volunteer efforts. The award, established in 1995, is presented each year to a business leader with an exemplary record of promoting successful collaboration between the business and nonprofit communities.
In addition, the sixth annual Heart of Gold Scholarship was presented to Lucy Williams, a senior at Greenwich Country Day School. The Volunteer Center supports continuing education by presenting this $5,000 scholarship to a high school senior, in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan or Stamford, who is dedicated to serving others for the benefit of the community and will be attending college in the fall.
The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County is a United Way Partner Agency and a vital resource to over 300 agencies in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan. The Center founded in 1973, serves nonprofit organizations, employers and individuals by coordinating their talents and resources, to build agencies’ abilities to enhance the quality of life in communities, through volunteerism.
