Equitable Pay and Policies: Putting Principle Into Practice

Sandy Musumeci will co-lead a panel titled, Equitable Pay and Policies: Putting Principle Into Practice” at the NACUA annual conference. The panel will cover responding to pay practice inquiries, and justifying or mitigating differences in pay; an overview of OFCCP/DOL and EEOC’s enforcement priorities and the recent changes applicable to the regulatory framework (including, recently enacted pay transparency laws), the legal implications of noncompliance; and how pay equity amongst higher education institution’s employees can serve to advance the institution’s educational mission and broad DEI commitments. There will also be a case study discussion tracking when an institution may choose to conduct an equity and/or DEI assessment, and best practices for engaging in this work, including utilization of human and technological resources, precise data collection and retention methods, and strategic stakeholder communication plans. Other presenters include Brittany L. Denley (Associate, Steptoe & Johnson LLP), Christine Lovely (VP and Chair Human Resource Officer, Cornell University), and Rachel Pereira (VP of Equity and Inclusion, St. John’s University).
