Data De-Identification: Bridging the Gap (Misconceptions, Misalignment, and Verification)

August 6, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (EDT)

Special Counsel Céline Guillou will speak in the webinar Data De-Identification: Bridging the Gap (Misconceptions, Misalignment, and Verification),” hosted by the California Lawyers Association and co-sponsored by Integrative Privacy LLC.

This program will bring a technical and engineering perspective to data privacy risk management, helping legal professionals better understand what happens to data in practice when terms such as anonymized,” de-identified,” and aggregated” are used. The panel will explore common misconceptions surrounding these designations, examine the gaps that can arise between legal and technical teams, and discuss the business implications of data de-identification strategies.

Attendees will learn how to identify potential weaknesses in vendor claims, develop more effective questions for technical teams, and evaluate the use of aggregated data through a privacy engineering lens. The session will also provide practical guidance for strengthening vendor assessments and privacy risk management processes.
