Communicating With Your Government Client
June 4, 2012 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (EDT)
On June 4th, Kelley Drye will gather corporate leaders to inform them of the do’s and don’ts of communicating with their government client. This event will be of interest to companies or company employees who work with government agencies and entities. The seminar will focus on the federal, state, and local political laws and rules that restrict campaign finance activity by public contractors, limit their entertainment of public entity clients and prospects, and may require compliance with lobbying registration and reporting laws.
Topics will include:
- Gifts and Entertainment - what legal issues are raised by hosting government clients for business conferences, meals, and events? What are the risks to you and what are the risks to your clients?
- Lobbying - business entertainment can trigger lobbying requirements on the federal, state and local levels.
- Pay-to-Play - If you are a corporate employee/director - what are the federal, state and local limits on making your own personal political contributions? What about the limits imposed on your company?
- Certification and filing requirements.
- Suggestions for establishing a successful compliance protocol.
