FARA 101: The Basics of the Foreign Agents Registration Act

In this session, our political law attorneys will cover the requirements of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which provides for the disclosure to the U.S. government and the public of certain advocacy and advisory activities undertaken on behalf of a foreign principal.  A foreign principal can include a wide range of entities, including not only a foreign government or government-owned entity, but also a private business, including an offshore corporate parent or other affiliate.  We will discuss registration triggers, including political activities and other covered conduct, as well as exemptions, reporting, prohibited activities, and Department of Justice enforcement and guidance.
