David Barry is a partner in the firm’s New York office. He focuses his practice on employee benefits, executive compensation and real estate matters.
David has particular experience assisting clients in connection with complex ESOP issues. He has assisted various clients with creative executive compensation arrangements and has represented many executives in employment and severance arrangements. He also has represented various clients in Department of Labor investigations.
In the real estate area, David has represented foreign and U.S. investors in connection with their investments in U.S. real estate holdings.
Represented an international oil and gas company in reversion of $3.5 billion of excess pension plan assets, including novel participating annuity contract.
Represented a major chemical company in the reversion of $500 million of excess pension plan assets, including a novel participating annuity contract.
Represented a major chemical company in the spin-off of the industrial gases business now known as Praxair, including downsizing of an ESOP and splitting of stock options into stock options of both companies.
Represented a major chemical company in numerous divestitures and anti-takeover strategies.
Represented a major chemical company, Praxair and GTE in connection with company-owned life insurance programs.
Represented Chase Bank and other clients in connection with numerous rabbi trusts.
Represented a major chemical company's pension fund in numerous venture capital, private placement and real estate investments.
