With more than 10 years’ experience, including as a law firm scientific advisor, Vincent Ferraro handles patent matters for a wide array of technologies. His work includes litigation, licensing, prosecution, due diligence, clearance, design around strategies, and opinions on various patent issues, including validity and freedom-to-operate.

In patent litigation cases, he guides clients through all phases of the case, including pre-suit due diligence, claim construction, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trial. Vincent also represents patent holders and patent challengers in post-grant review proceedings including inter partes review proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Vincent also regularly advises his clients on IP portfolio management strategies and assists with product design strategies. He works closely with inventors, analyzes new inventions, drafts U.S. patent applications, and prosecutes patents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in various high-technology fields and on consumer products.

Vincent has an electrical and computer engineering background and worked as an IT professional at a major company before becoming a lawyer. His tech experience includes:

Adlens USA, Inc. v. Superfocus Holdings, LLC (IPR2015-01821 and 01824)
Successfully represented Petitioner in IPR proceedings before the PTAB concerning prescription eyeglass technology.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. V. M & K Holdings Inc. (IPR2018-00696, 00697 and 00698)
Successfully represented Patent Owner in IPR proceedings before the PTAB concerning video processing technology, including successfully amending the challenged claims.

Stripe Inc. and Shopify Inc. v. Boom! Payments Inc. (CBM2020-00002, 00003 and 00004)
Represented Petitioner, Shopify, in CBM proceedings before the PTAB concerning e-commerce and payment processing technology.

Canon Inc. v. Avigilon Corp., 17-cv-02733 (ND TX)
Successfully represented the defendants in a patent infringement lawsuit involving five patents relating to video surveillance technology. Resulted in a favorable settlement in 2020.

American Technical Ceramics Corp. and AVX Corp. v. Presidio Components, Inc. 14-cv-06544 (ED NY)
Successfully represented the plaintiff in a patent infringement lawsuit relating to capacitors before a jury trial.

Boom! Payments Inc. v. Shopify Inc., 19-cv-590 (ND Cal.)
Represented Shopify defendants in a patent infringement case regarding online payment processing and won a motion to dismiss the case under Section 101.

Wildcat Licensing WI LLC v. various automotive manufacturers, 19-cv-834 (D. Del.)
Represented plaintiff in a patent infringement case regarding automotive manufacturing technology.

Connectsoft, Inc. v. NEEO, Inc., 16-cv-00548 (ED TX)
Successfully represented the defendant in a patent infringement lawsuit before Judge Gilstrap relating to radio frequency technology. Resulted in a favorable settlement in 2017.

Presidio Components, Inc. v. American Technical Ceramics Corp., 14-cv-2061 (S.D. Cal.)
Defended electrical components manufacturer in patent infringement action concerning multilayer capacitors.
