Paul Doyle focuses his practice on international and domestic commercial litigation, including fraud, contract, banking, antitrust, securities, health care, class action and product liability matters. He has resolved disputes valued into the hundreds of millions of dollars, and has extensive experience litigating and favorably settling domestic litigation, as well as litigation involving European, Asian and South American companies.
Paul has always thoroughly enjoyed the litigation/dispute resolution practice, and his commitment to it remains unwavering. He has handled virtually every kind of commercial case, both large and small, and has been significantly involved in several of the most important litigations in the last fifty years. On any matter he handles, Paul brings to bear both vast experience and a genuine desire to achieve the result the client wants.
Notably, Paul served as a member of the Kelley Drye team responsible for all aspects of Union Carbide’s defense of the Bhopal gas disaster litigation in the United States and India. This included consolidating 147 multibillion-dollar class action suits brought in the United States on behalf of more than 500,000 claimants; having all those suits dismissed to India on forum non conveniens grounds; and ultimately settling the civil litigation in India. Paul directed all of the factual defensive work in the case and led the team that investigated and established the actual cause of the disaster in the course of approximately 40 trips to India.
Paul worked as a law clerk in the Superior Court of Massachusetts from 1973–1974. He was in the U.S. Army from 1968–1970, and served as a sergeant with the Fourth Infantry Division in Vietnam.
