Dana Kane advises on restructuring, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. She has represented liquidating trustees, major secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, debtors and lenders in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. Dana’s practice spans various industries including retail, energy and technology, to name only a few.
Previously, Dana served as in-house counsel at a company that specializes in buying and selling claims and interests in distressed situations, primarily in pending federal bankruptcy cases and insurance insolvency proceedings, under state law. Through her in-house experience, Dana not only developed a niche expertise in the world of distressed debt, but she also gained a valuable understanding of how to think like a client from both a legal and business perspective. As a result, she can more effectively leverage her client’s position in a variety of different situations.
Much of Dana’s practice involves serving as a post-confirmation trustee, which requires tremendous business sense, legal know-how and personal discipline. With nearly twenty years of hands-on legal and management experience, Dana is a proven negotiator. She is articulate and demonstrates the necessary perseverance, patience and stamina required in knowing what her client wants to achieve, while demonstrating the flexibility and listening skills to realize the right result.
Dana’s truly extensive knowledge of the legal and business subject matter involved in bankruptcy allows her to deliver consistently favorable outcomes to her clients. Dana is appreciated for her dexterity in preparation and planning, acuity of judgment and intellectual capacity, and decisiveness in considering many options quickly, as well as her innate proficiency in persuading others.
