Kelley Drye’s Advertising Law Practice Group has prepared a Client Advisory titled Federal Trade Commission Workshop on Mobile Marketing.” On May 6 and May 7, 2008, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) held a workshop entitled Beyond Voice: Mapping the Mobile Marketplace” to discuss the evolving mobile commerce marketplace and its implications for consumer protection policy. Panelists included industry experts, government regulators, privacy professionals, academics, and consumer advocates.

The discussion focused on business and legal trends relevant to the mobile marketplace, including the adaptation of advertising to mobile commerce, government enforcement in the mobile marketplace, and industry best practices. The Client Advisory summarizes the key points discussed during the recent two-day workshop. The FTC is accepting comments regarding the topics and issues addressed at the mobile marketing workshop through June 6, 2008.
