Workplace Video Monitoring: What Employers Need To Know
July 22, 2016
Partners Mark Konkel and Barbara Hoey co-authored the Law360 article, “Workplace Video Monitoring: What Employers Need To Know,” which addresses the federal and state limits on video monitoring in the workplace for both unionized and nonunion workers. While there is no federal law that prohibits employers from monitoring the workplace other than for surveillance of union related activity, U.S. states have placed limits on video surveillance to protect the privacy of individuals. According to Mark and Barbara, employers should develop video monitoring policies that comply with the requirements of various state laws as well as with employees’ right to organize.
