Business Websites Explore the Limits of In Personam Jurisdiction

This article reviews how various jurisdictions evaluate a company’s Internet presence for the purpose of establishing personal jurisdiction. The author explains two tests, which have emerged in determining whether a business website can expose the company to lawsuits throughout the country. He explains how the courts have analyzed Internet activities applying the Zippo Mfg. v. Zippo Dot Com, Inc. and the Calder v. Jones cases.
