Special Counsel Joseph Green Noted in New York Times Article on Antimicrobial Copper Alloy Registration

Special Counsel Joseph Green was mentioned in a New York Times article discussing the recent approval of the Copper Development Association’s application to market a group of copper alloys as capable of killing bacteria and microbes that can cause disease and are a major source of hospital-acquired infections. Green, who represented the group during the four-year testing and review process, noted that the Copper Development Association will not market products itself, but member companies will be able to do so after filing ​“me too” applications with the Environmental Protection Agency.

With the registration, Green explained that the copper industry will be able to make human health claims for its products, while competitors generally are limited to claims of protecting only the product itself from odors, stains, and corrosion caused by bacteria.
