Partner Kathleen C. Cannon Quoted in Chinese PC Wire Strand Duties Article

In an American Metal Market article ​“Duties imposed by Commerce vs. imports of Chinese PC Wire Strand,” partner Kathleen C. Cannon was quoted. The article discussed the Chinese imports of pre-stressed concrete (PC) steel wire strand are facing anti-dumping duties. Ms. Cannon represented the U.S. producers of PC wire strand in a countervailing duty case against Chinese producers. ​“We still have to win at the International Trade Commission, where the proceedings continue. If the commission follows (Commerce), the duties will be imposed and it will have the remedial effect that the law intended,” Ms. Cannon said. Ms. Cannon contends that the Commerce decision ​“indicates that our claims were warranted. There were substantial subsidies given to Chinese producers and they were selling (in the United States) at very low prices.”
