On September 11, 2012 partner Gonzalo E. Mon presented at the American Conference Institute's Summit on Digital Advertising Compliance: Social Media, Sweepstakes, & Promotions in New York, NY. His session, "Smart Promotions for Smart Phones," focused on avoiding potential legal pitfalls while leveraging new trends in mobile apps and gamification—the use of game-like elements to make everyday life and consumer experiences more compelling. Along with a wide variety of other topics, Mr. Mon discussed: the use of mobile optimized sites, location based services, and QR codes; problems stemming from smart phone data usage; the risks of taking your intellectual property into a game environment; and, considerations for virtual sweepstakes and lotteries.
