The rubber met the road when Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown [brought charges](https://www.marylandattorneygeneral.gov/News%20Documents/073024_Darcars_Honda_Statement_Of_Charges.pdf) against a car dealership and its owners, and Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha [filed a lawsuit](https://communications.kelleydrye.com/e/5eejzhksnrifw) against a parking management company.

#### [Staying INFORMED: Updates Regarding State INFORM Acts](https://communications.kelleydrye.com/e/rwewformhni0m4a)

On June 27, 2023, the [Integrity, Notification, and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces for Consumers Act (INFORM Act)](https://communications.kelleydrye.com/e/3ueoxhfaeazk2xa) went into effect. As [we have previously written](https://communications.kelleydrye.com/e/p0ywcxzem7mjba), the INFORM Act aims to deter criminals from selling counterfeit, stolen, defective, and dangerous products through online marketplaces. The law requires online marketplaces to (1) collect and verify seller information; (2) disclose certain information to purchasers regarding high volume sellers; (3) include a reporting mechanism on each high-volume seller’s product listing page so that consumers can report suspicious activity; (4) suspend noncompliant sellers; and (5) protect data they collect.
