You may view the full recording [here](https://vimeo.com/1101346660/47c7705723). #### [](https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-and-multistate-coalition-reach-74-billion-settlement-purdue-pharma-its)IN THE NEWS AND LATEST UPDATES #### [California AG focuses on contracts, opt-outs, and consumer disclosures in Healthline settlement](https://www.kelleydrye.com/viewpoints/blogs/ad-law-access/california-ag-focuses-on-contracts-opt-outs-and-consumer-disclosures-in-healthline-settlement) On July 1, 2025, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a $1.55 million proposed settlement order with Healthline Media – the largest California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) settlement to date. The proposed settlement resolves allegations that Healthline violated the CCPA by 1) failing to honor consumer requests to opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information, 2) violating the CCPA’s purpose limitation principle, and 3) failing to include required data protection provisions in contracts with service providers and third parties. #### [Connecticut AG Announces First Settlement Under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act](https://www.kelleydrye.com/viewpoints/blogs/ad-law-access/connecticut-ag-announces-first-settlement-under-the-connecticut-data-privacy-act) On July 8, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced a settlement with TicketNetwork, Inc. for alleged violations of the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA). The settlement is the first publicly announced enforcement action under the state’s comprehensive privacy statute, which went into effect on July 1, 2023. #### [State AGs, and Mark Twain, Hold Companies Accountable for AI Use](https://www.kelleydrye.com/viewpoints/blogs/ad-law-access/state-ags-and-mark-twain-hold-companies-accountable-for-ai-use) Two state attorneys general on very different ends of the political spectrum announced separate actions related to purported discrimination by AI services. Missouri sent inquiry letters to four Big Tech companies pertaining to alleged misrepresentations by their AI chatbots, and Massachusetts settled with a student loan company resolving allegations of, among other things, use of AI models that could have disparate impacts on certain communities. #### [Eighth Circuit Vacates FTC’s Negative Option Rule](https://www.kelleydrye.com/viewpoints/blogs/ad-law-access/eighth-circuit-vacates-ftcs-negative-option-rule) On the metaphorical eve of the July 14 effective date for the FTC’s Negative Option Rule, the Eighth Circuit released an opinion vacating the Rule in its entirety. The economy-wide notice, consent, cancellation, and other requirements in the Rule have been nullified by the Eighth Circuit’s decision. State AGs however can continue to enforce many of the same principles through their autorenewal and UDAP laws. #### 2025 AGA Annual Meeting: 3-Part Recap Series The Attorney General Alliance (AGA) hosted its 2025 Annual Meeting, bringing together state attorneys general and their staff, legal practitioners, and industry participants to discuss various topics important to AGs.
