# President Signs Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 Into Law

Kelley Drye’s [Consumer Product Safety](/Our-Practices/Regulatory-Government-Relations/Consumer-Product-Safety-Regulation) and [Government Relations and Public Policy](/Our-Practices/Regulatory-Government-Relations/Government-Relations-and-Public-Policy) Practice Groups have prepared a client advisory discussing H.R. 4040, the ​“Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008,” which was signed into law by the president on August 14, 2008.

The new law will have far-reaching implications for manufacturers, distributors, importers and retailers of consumer products. The advisory discusses these implications and provides a detailed overview of the new law’s provisions.

Companies that make, import or sell consumer products are advised to conduct immediate reviews of their current practices to evaluate compliance and make modifications as necessary.
