Partners [William Escobar](/Our-People/William-A-Escobar) and [Philip Robben](/Our-People/Philip-D-Robben) authored, ​“Health Care Institutions,” chapter 96 in *Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts, Fifth Edition*. The chapter discusses the claims that are typically asserted against health care institutions in state false claims actions and the parties that are typically involved in the litigation. Bill and Philip also cover the strategic considerations that defense counsel should take into account when litigating a state false claims action, and examine the key statutory schemes and causes of action under New York law. This chapter includes a discussion of representative cases brought against health care institutions under the New York State False Claims Act.
