# Comment Dates Set for E-Rate Bundled Services Rule Change

Earlier this month, we told you about the [FCC’s change of heart](http://telecomlawmonitor.lexblogplatformthree.com/2013/04/fcc-reverses-course-proposes-to-eliminate-bundled-services-exception-to-e-rate-cost-allocation-rules/) regarding ​“free” equipment bundled with e-rate eligible services. The FCC’s proposed rule change was [published in the *Federal Register*](https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.kelleydrye.com/content/uploads/blogs/comm-law-monitor/2013/04/bundled-services-Federal-Register.pdf) today, establishing the comment dates for the proceeding. Comments on the proposal are due May 23, 2013, with reply comments due June 7.

Service providers offering bundled services and school systems purchasing bundled services are affected by the rule change. If adopted, the FCC’s rule would require schools and libraries to perform a cost allocation for all bundled service packages, including mobile service plans that offer free or discounted handsets with a service contract.
